Jose Miguel Amaya

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jose Miguel Amaya, age 20, who left us on September 21, 2025. Jose Miguel was born on September 27, 2004, in Rio Grande City, Texas, to Martin Amaya and Brenda D. Mendez Lopez.

Jose Miguel held the distinguished honor of being the first in his family to attend college, a testament to his dedication and the dreams he carried forward for his loved ones. Above all else, Jose Miguel was a devoted family man who consistently placed his family and friends at the center of his life. His unwavering loyalty and love touched everyone who knew him.

Jose Miguel found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was passionate about hunting, took pride in raising roosters, and had a deep appreciation for music that brought rhythm and happiness to his days. His warm spirit and generous heart created lasting memories for all who were fortunate to know him.

Jose Miguel is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Brenda Mendez Lopez and Francisco Sandoval; his father, Martin Amaya; his sisters Samanta Diaz, Lucia Amaya, Brianda Amaya, and Mia Sandoval; his brother Juan Acevedo; his brother and sister-in-law Martin Amaya and Julissa Amaya; his beloved twin brother Jose Angel Amaya; his grandparents Reynaldo and Sara Benitez; his nieces Janney Alejo, Naomi Hernandez, and Mayeli Bravo; and his nephews Matteo Amaya and Isael Acevedo.

The family invites all who knew and loved Jose Miguel to join them in celebrating his life and honoring his memory. Visitation will be held at Sterling White Funeral Home from 5:00 pm- 8:00 pm on Monday September 29, 2025 follow by secondary visitation Tuesday September 30, 2025 from 10:00 am -1:00 am and service at sterling white funeral home at 1:00 pm and gravesite at 2:00 Pm at sterling white cemetery where Jose Miguel Amaya will be laid to rest.

Though his time with us was far too brief, Jose Miguel's legacy of love, determination, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
