Pam (Schaffner) Matzelle, 79, of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025.

Pam was the beloved wife of the late Raymond I. Matzelle, with whom she shared a loving and devoted marriage until his passing in December 2020. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Blanche (Wharton) Schaffner.

A lifelong learner, Pam earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Lake Forest College and her Master's in Education from Middlebury College. She dedicated most of her career to teaching Spanish at Reading High School, where she inspired and encouraged countless students until her retirement in June 2007.

Beyond her career, Pam lived a full and joyful life. She had a deep love of reading, sewing, traveling, and sharing time with her family. She and Ray especially cherished traveling together, taking many cruises; always eager to fit in every possible excursion. At home, they enjoyed long neighborhood walks and attending Women's Social Club of Berks County (WSCBC) events and social activities.

Pam's warmth and energy extended to her love of animals, especially cats, a passion rooted in her childhood, as her parents were Birman cat breeders. She also had a gift for talking and was known as a natural conversationalist who found joy in connecting with others - whether family, friends, or neighbors.

Above all, Pam's greatest joy was being surrounded by her family, and she treasured every moment with her grandchildren. Pam's life and memory will be lovingly honored by her three children: Brent R. Matzelle, husband of Erin K., of Riverton, NJ, Todd A. Matzelle, companion of Nancy T. O'Connor, of Thornton, PA, Lt. Col. Chad R. Matzelle, USMC, husband of Taylor B., of Camp Lejeune, NC; She is also survived by her eight beloved grandchildren - Tess, Lena, Emmett, Quinn, Skylar, Liam, Cullen, and Molly Kate - as well as her sister, Val Martin. In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her brother, Todd Schaffner.

Pam will be remembered for her warmth, devotion, and love of life. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home is honored to serve Pam's family. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
