Pamela Sue (Rojewski) Barrett, 77, of Independence Mo. Passed on to life eternal at 3:42 AM on Friday Feb. 7, 2025. She was born July 2, 1947 to Idella and John Rojewski of Bradner Ohio.
She grew up in Bradner and attended the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She attended Graceland College in Lamoni Iowa in 1965-66 and went into the nursing program at the Independence Sanitarium School of Nursing in 1966-69.
After she graduated she married William (Bill) Alvie Barrett whom she met at Graceland. He was from Albuquerque New Mexico and they moved there where she put Bill through his last year of Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. When Bill graduated they moved to Bradner Ohio and she went to work at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green Ohio from 1970 to 1995 becoming the Director of the Emergency Department (ED). During that time she bore two children, Michael Aaron in 1971, and Melody Anne in 1974. She balanced work and raising her two children with the help of her mother, her Aunt, and her husband. While at Wood County Hospital she helped expand the ED from a few beds to 14 beds.
In 1995 she and her husband wanted to gather to Independence Mo. And was immediately blessed with a job at Independence Regional Hospital who wanted to expand their ED. She soon became the director of the ED at Independence Regional, and also MCI (Medical Center of Independence), and of the new hospital – Centerpoint Medical Center (CMC). She even helped design the physical building of the ED, telling the architects what was needed in the way of flow and storage facilities for the department.
She retired from CMC in 2009 and became the volunteer head nurse at the church's local school – Centerplace Restoration School (CPRS) until 2022.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and she is survived by her husband, Bill Barrett, her two children Michael (Kristen) Barrett, and Melody (Troy) Lassen, her five grandchildren Westin Barrett, Faith Lassen, Joy Lassen, Raina Lassen, and Harmony (Lassen) Laughlin with her husband Logan Laughlin, and survived by her two great grandchildren Winona Laughlin and Alighieri Laughlin.
There will be a memorial service for Pam on Saturday Feb. 22 at 10am at Living Hope Restoration Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ at 2425 S. Crysler Ave. Independence Mo. 64055.
