Pamela Jo (Mashburn) Nelson, 63, of McCalla, Alabama, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on August 8, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. Visitation will take place at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11:00am. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on October 25, 1961, Pamela graduated from Midfield High School, where she created many lifelong friendships. She spent over 30 years as a substitute teacher and teacher's aid at Midfield Elementary School. She loved shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pamela was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Mashburn. She is survived by her father, Paul Mashburn (Sandi); four siblings, Daryl (Terri), Malia (Dennis), Paula, and Mark; husband, Ted Nelson; two children, Megan Lovelady (John) and Clay Nelson (Cassandra); and four grandchildren, Nelson, Olivia, Renna, and Nelda. Pamela was a beloved daughter, friend, wife, mother, and JoJo, and she will be greatly missed. The viewing will be held at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home (4780 Letson Farms Parkway, McCalla, Alabama) on August 11, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be on August 12, at 11:00am. Graveside service to immediately follow at Highland Memorial Gardens (3115 18th Avenue, Bessemer, Alabama). Reception will follow at Megan Lovelady's residence (22493 Timberwood Drive, McCalla, AL). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association
