Pamela Kay Polke was born on October 6, 1945, in Carroll, Iowa and passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Des Moines.
Pam grew up in Lake City, Iowa with her two sisters, Trudy and Vanessa, and her brother, Lenny. After high school she moved to Des Moines and got her cosmetology degree and married Russell Polke in 1965. She was a beautician for more than 50 years and loved using her creative skills to make hair beautiful. Pam loved crafting; she enjoyed making homemade cards and gifts for her friends and family. She was also a Christian and very active in the church, she enjoyed bible study and growing in her faith.
Pam would light up a room and never had problems making friends, what she enjoyed the most was surrounding herself with friends and family.
Pam is survived by her sister Vanessa Johnson (Rick), her daughter Kimberly Hill, son Charles Polke (Pam), daughter Christine Betts (Brad), granddaughters Brittney Gookin (Dustin), Paige Camarillo (James), Mariah Polke, Kaylee Piagetini (Bobby) and four great grandchildren, Arabella, Alanna, Ellie and Eli.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and Lochiel Headlee, her sister Trudy Brian - Scott and her brother Leonard Headlee.
Her visitation will be held on Monday January 20, 2025, at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on Ashworth Rd in West Des Moines from 4-6pm. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am, also at the church. Her burial will be in the Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be no more mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away"

Pam was the first person I met at SOTV.
We both were in a Bible study with Pastor Garrison. She was so warm and fun and very welcoming. She was always a very special person to me.
