St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Pamela R. Prade, 76, who passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville from 7:30 am until 10:30 am.

A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Wednesday morning.

Pamela was born on May 6, 1949, in the vibrant community of New Orleans, LA, where she spent her formative years in the heart of the 7th Ward on LaHarp Street, later her family moved to Pontchartrain Park. She graduated from Xavier Prep in 1968 and proudly earned her Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy from Xavier University in 1972, followed by an additional Bachelor's in Education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

Pamela married the love of her life, Scody Prade, on April 27, 1974, and together they nurtured a beautiful family that includes three wonderful children and a host of grandchildren, who were truly the joy of her life. As the matriarch of her family, Pamela effortlessly embodied love and support, fostering a warm and nurturing environment that will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Pamela dedicated over two decades to education, beginning her career at Trinity Catholic School before making a lasting impact at St. Martinville Elementary and St. Martinville Junior High, where she taught for 24 years. She was passionate about shaping young minds and valued every connection she made with her students.

Known for her vibrant spirit and zest for life, Pamela loved to gather with family in New Orleans, basking in the joy of shared stories and cherished traditions. She was also an enthusiastic casino goer, where she enjoyed many trips with Scody.

Pamela was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Scody A. Prade; children, Scody D. Prade, Candace C. Prade and Jeremy E. Prade (Jontel); grandchildren, Antoine Prade, Candan Martin, Dominic Prade, Scoddi Prade, Jolee Prade and Jayce Prade; great-grandchild, Xyaire Prade; siblings, Ronald Recasner (Nancy), Aaron Recasner, Larry Recasner and Wesley Recasner (Gwen); brother-in-law, Ed Blaze and Terry Prade (Claudia).

She is preceded in death by Milton and Anna Recasner; sister, Marilyn Recasner; sister-in-law, Rosalind Blaze; and aunt, Lorraine Alexis (Andrew).

Pallbearers will be Scody D. Prade, Jeremy Prade, Antoine Prade, Candan Prade, Terry Prade, Jr. and Dominic Prade.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Scoddi Prade, Jayce Prade, Donald Alexis, Troy Washington, Larry Jones, Jr., Jamal Bolds, Edward Charles, Gilbert Williams and Victor Narcisse.
