Pamela Ann Weand, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, in her hometown of Memphis, TN, at the age of 68. Born on May 4, 1956, in Memphis, she was a vibrant force in the lives she touched, known for her unwavering spirit and infectious love for life.
Pamela was raised by, Mary McWhirter and Amanda Manning, and was surrounded by a large, supportive family. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Chester Paul Weand, her sister Sonja Manning, her brother Walter Musick, and her birth mother, Joyce Strickland. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she is survived by her devoted son, Adam Weand, and her sister, Kim Kerr(Ginger).
Pamela and Chester shared a beautiful marriage that lasted 52 years, having exchanged vows on May 5, 1972. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Pamela was not only a proud wife of a U.S. Marine but also a dedicated mother who instilled strong values of kindness and resilience in her son.
Her educational journey began at Memphis Tech High School, where she laid the foundation for a successful career. Over the years, Pamela held various positions, dedicating 20 years to the medical business field as a medical billing clerk before her retirement. She was known for her strong work ethic and her ability to connect with those around her.
A proud Southern Baptist, Pamela found solace and community in her faith. Pamela's love for life was evident in the simple pleasures she cherished. She delighted in watching hummingbirds flit around her home and enjoyed weekend drives that allowed her to immerse herself in the beauty of her surroundings.
Pamela had a passion for playing avatar-based internet games, which provided her a unique way to connect with others. She loved spending time with her family and sharing stories that highlighted the richness of her experiences. A woman of great fortitude, she was known for her straightforwardness, never hesitating to speak her mind and ensuring that her voice was heard.
Throughout her life, Pamela cared deeply for her many fur babies and shared her home with a plethora of pets that she adored. Her warmth and compassion extended beyond her family and friends.
Pamela's journey may have come to an end, but her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched. Her funeral will be held at the West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery, where she will be honored for her love and service to her family and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to any active local charity, honoring Pamela's generous spirit and love for helping others.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Benny J Hall and family, Duston Ray and family for their support, and to Yvette Pink, her goddaughter, for the emotional strength she provided over the last year. Special thanks also go to Victoria Davis and family for their unwavering support, and to all of Pamela's coworkers, friends, newly found friends, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and neighbors who have been there during this difficult time. A very special Thank You to Cheryl Raven sister in law; Keith Weand brother in law for their caring and support over the last year. Most of all, the family wishes to thank God for the strength He has provided throughout this journey.
Pamela Ann Weand will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for her vibrant spirit, loving heart, and the indelible mark she left on the world.
