Pastor Collin David Seitz

Pastor Collin David Seitz, 71, was ushered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 29, 2025, in Montrose, Colorado.

Collin was born on June 17, 1954, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and was the son of Arlo and Ruth (Luckhardt) Seitz. He graduated from Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1972, and then received his undergraduate degrees at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Trinity College. He received a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois.

Collin met Gloria while attending Moody, and they were married on June 17, 1978, at Westchester Bible Church. They have had a wonderful journey raising four children and serving in ministry together. Collin pastored at six different churches: two in Chicago, two in the state of Washington, one in Michigan, as well as Crossroads Church in Plymouth, Indiana. He retired after 47 years of ministry in 2023. He also served as a fire chaplain, Regional Superintendent of the Great Lakes District of the Evangelical Free Church of America, and president of his homeowners’ association in Plymouth.

Collin’s demeanor can best be described as a gentle shepherd. He was genuinely concerned for others in his positive, smiling, jovial, caring ways. He always lent a listening ear to his congregation and family members. He loved to share treasure troves of wisdom with anyone who might ask, opening God’s Word and reaching into his extensive files and collection of books. Reading and studying the Bible daily was of the utmost importance to him. He was a constant student and teacher of God’s Word and was well read. He enjoyed giving out of his resources to others with a spirit of generosity.

Collin and Gloria enjoyed traveling together. They participated in missions trips to Haiti and Guyana, South America, and he took interest in Gloria’s love of art by taking her to Italy several times. The highlight trip for them was their 40th anniversary celebration trip to Israel, Turkey, and Greece, experiencing the pages of the Bible coming to life alongside friends and family.

Collin was a faithful husband and father, astute with the finances and assisting with chores, being fondly known as the “laundry fairy.” He spent time helping the kids process career choices as he guided them to adulthood. Collin loved being a grandfather. You could find him jumping on the trampoline, roughhousing with the grandkids on the ground, reading them stories, playing “table games” or even teaching them how to operate a grill.

In all of these facets of his life, Collin’s main goal was to get to know and serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and help people take their next steps of faith toward Him. His greatest joy, even today, would be to see those who need Jesus to put their faith in Him to spend eternity with Him forever.

His life verse is Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

He is survived by his wife Gloria of Plymouth, his children, Jennifer (Andrew) Gregar of South Bend, Charissa (Ryan) Stegink of Indianapolis, Daniel (Natalie) Seitz of Indianapolis, Stephanie (Kevin) DeVries of Montrose, CO, and grandchildren Julia, Ethan and Emma Gregar, Brielle, Hannah and Caleb Stegink, Theo, Elliot, Milo and Zadie Seitz, sisters Linda (Brad) Jones of Chattanooga, TN, Sherry (Mark) Boyd of Chattanooga, TN, Paula Murphy of Rincon, GA and sister-in-law Shelly Seitz of Saginaw, MI.

Collin is preceded in death by his parents, Arlo and Ruth Seitz, sisters, Karen Mayville and Terri Carpenter, brother, Mark Seitz, and twin grandsons, Micah and Gabriel Stegink.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:30 am at Crossroads Church, 1650 N. Oak Dr., Plymouth, IN 46563, with Pastor Scott Yoder officiating. Visitation will resume for the public starting at 9:30 until the start of the service.

Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
