Pastor Donald Littleton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16, 2023.
Pastor Donald Littleton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11th, 2023 in his home surrounded by family. Although not early in his life, Don was called into the ministry after a successful career in the building trade. Prior to completing 4 years at Wesley Seminary in Washington D.C., Don earned his Bachelor of Science degree from his beloved Pennsylvania State University. After becoming a Licensed Local Pastor, Don faithfully served his church family for 25 years. He loved his congregations dearly and compassionately, and always felt it a privilege and a joy to pastor the flock. During his time as Pastor Don, he served the parishioners of the following United Methodist churches: Plymouth, Larksville, Great Bend, and in Duncannon at Otterbein and Rose Glen. He also provided special services for Veteran's Day. In addition, he hosted a Blue Christmas event each year. For those who knew him, music was another passion of his; he directed choir in many of the churches and seasonal cantatas. But greater than his passion for music was his passion for the youth in all the churches that he served so selflessly. He was a youth leader, and he organized several activities and trips such as the Kingdom Bound Festival in New York. Pastor Don was a counselor and a mentor to all the youth in the church. Several youths were inspired by his faith and guidance, which encouraged them to become more involved in the church, and in some instances, devote their life to serving the Lord. Donald is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane; 2 sons, Nathan and Mitchell; 2 daughters-in-law Kelly and Melisa; and 2 grandchildren, Bryson and Makenzie. Preceding in death, his 2 sons, Jon and Kevin. Don experienced immense love, joy, and laughter with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and football; his teams were the Raiders and of course, Penn State. WE ARE! In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20th, 2023 at The Community Methodist Church 436 Main Street, Great Bend, PA 18821. The family will greet friends from 2-4 at the church prior to the service.

Dearest Diane and Family: You have my deepest sympathy as you are grieving the passing over of your beloved husband and father. I have known Don since we were in first grade. He was and is, truly a great man. He excelled in everything that he ever endeavored to do. Being a wonderful pastor, he lead many to Christ and nurtured many in their relationship with Christ. His gifts and talents were endless. He has passed over into God's Kingdom now and there is no doubt in my mind that he has heard our Lord say: "Well done, good and faithful servant!" You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers and if you need anything or just want to talk, call me. 814-577-9715. Diane, I love you, dear Sister In Christ!
