Mr. Matkin passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
He was born January 20, 1931 in Huntsville Alabama to Mr. William J. Matkin and Mrs. Theo Moore Matkin. Mr. Matkin was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked as a senior project engineer for the U.S. Army Strategic Defense Command, formerly the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems Command before his retirement.
Mr. Matkin was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Thomas Matkin, Daughter, Marcia Reidberger and Grandson, Paul Sparks.
He is survived by:

Tricia Stevens (Jack) and Michelle Matkin
Eight Grandchildren: Chance Sparks (Rebecca), Devin Anton (Adam), Kody Bryant (Matt), Cara Ryan, Panthea Steelman, Jessica Chandler (Chris), Jacquelyn Stevens, Samantha Stevens
Eight Great Grandchildren: Walker Anton, Rylee Bryant, Cy Anton, Colton Bryant, Carlianne Sparks, Lucille Anton, Wyatt Chandler, and Elissa Grace Chandler
