Patrice Sanders Smith affectionately known as “Red” or “Trice” departed this life unexpectedly at her residence on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the age of 67. She was a native of New Orleans (Algiers), LA and resident of Westwego, LA. Patrice was educated in the Orleans Parish School system. She worked in the hospitality industry. She received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at First Pentecostal Church of Austin in Austin, TX. She loved to travel and lived in St. Louis, MO. Chicago, IL, Oakland, CA and Austin, TX. She will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, uniquely stylish walk and beautiful smile. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and community. Devoted mother of LaShetta (Charles) Ballet. Loving grandmother of Rasheed, Rashon, Rashad, Sr. (Monique Patterson), David III, and Char’Less. Great grandmother of Shamari, Key’Mai, Ty’Jay, Zaire, Ja’Sani and Rashad Jr. Daughter of the late John H. Sanders Jr. and Betty Bowman Sanders. Granddaughter of the late Beatrice and Frellie Bowman Sr., Ella and John H. Sanders. Devoted sister of Stephanie Temple, Jacquelyn Sanders, Nathaniel (Yulonda) Sanders, all of Austin, TX, Michael Degree (Derrick) Smith, Shantella (Sam Sr.) Martin, Nicquolette (Darrel Sr.) and the late John H. Sanders, III, Judith D. Sanders and Antoine Sanders. Aunt of the late John H. Sanders, IV, Nathaniel Sanders, II, and Haywood C. Reed Jr. Sister in law of Tracy Sanders and the late Cheryl Sanders and Charlie Temple, Sr. Godsister of Patrica Bowman. Godmother of Ashley Nicole Martin. Patrice is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Shiloh M.BC., Touch of Love Ministries, and Heavenly Star M.B.C. are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church 1738 L. B. Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00a.m. Pastor Bryan Bowman, Sr. officiating; Pastor Norman Franics, Host Pastor.
