Patricia Ann Baxter, 67, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter-in-law and friend passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. Born on May 8, 1958, in Columbia, TN, daughter of the late Dennis and Vernia Meigs. Patricia loved to be of service to her family and church. She was an active member of Northside Baptist Church where she and her husband taught in the preschool department for many years. Patricia was recently retired from Sallas-Mahone Elementary School, where she spent 24 years as an administrative assistant. The school held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed seeing the students and visiting with her co-workers and friends each day. Her selfless and generous spirit will be remembered forever by those lucky enough to have known her.
She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 47 years, Douglas, and their three children: Brent (Emily) Baxter, Kyle (Billie)Baxter, and Kendall Baxter. She will be missed deeply by her five grandchildren: Everett, Walt, Leo, Meris and Layne, (who affectionately called her “Mimi”), her brother Randy (Glenda) Meigs, and her mother-in-law and best friend Doris Fay Baxter. Patricia’s memory will live on through her family, whose lives have been blessed by her unconditional love and dedication.
A funeral service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta, GA. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Northside Baptist Church’s preschool department. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
