PATRICIA ANN BREGAR, 94 of Leesburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Leesburg, Virginia.
Born Sunday, September 28, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Tansey and the late Mabel Beauregard Tansey. She graduated from St. Ursula Academy in Toledo where she developed a deep affection for her religious faculty and continued to be a devout Catholic her entire life. She had a successful sales career first selling fine silver and stationery at Broer-Freeman in Toledo. After moving to Allentown, PA she became a buyer of women's sportswear at the flagship location of Hess Brother's department store. With her keen sense of style, she made regular trips to the New York Fashion District to bring the latest trends to Hess's. She, subsequently managed her own dress shop for several years. She was also a top seller with the Fuller Brush Company. While in Allentown, Patricia developed a deep interest in astrology and her expertise of that subject made her a frequently-requested speaker. After a move to the Princeton, NJ area, she was approached by the Allentown Call Chronicle to write an advice column, Astro-Logic by Tansy. The Courier Post in Camden, NJ, picked up her column and she continued to publish in both newspapers.
After retirement, Patricia became a guest speaker on the cruise ship circuit and, along with her husband Joseph, sailed throughout the world presenting her program "Taking the Mystery out of Astrology". She was active in St. Jude Parish in Boca Raton, Florida where she chaired several initiatives. For the general community, she was never too shy to take on an impactful challenge. In her most noted project, she rallied businesses and her community to collect essential items in an emergency backpack drive following Hurricane Andrew where over 1,500 backpacks were delivered to affected Miami families. She orchestrated numerous Christmas gift drives for migrant children in South Florida. Patricia conducted collections for the Palm Beach County Health Department for many years which aided in the distribution of vaccinations and health care for underserved families. She looked for opportunities to apply her exceptional organization skills and creative thinking to help anywhere she saw a need.
Patricia was an avid reader with a massive library (favoring biographies, art books and a good mystery novel), loved her many family pets and never tired of shopping. She especially enjoyed choosing the perfect, thoughtful gift for those close to her. But her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she spent many joyful years.
Patricia was predeceased by her beloved husband of 39 years, Joseph Bregar, and son, Mark Louis Bregar, Esq.. She leaves many to cherish her memory including her daughter, Carol Ann Horner and husband Neal, and 4 children through marriage: Mary Jo Manzak, Mark Joseph Bregar, Virginia Hendler, Carolyn Jackson, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, 3/29 at 12:30 pm at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 101 Oakcrest Manor Drive, NE. Leesburg, VA 20176. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
