Pat Buchanan, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully surrounded by her family on 7/29/2025. Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 5, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm at Myers and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Services to honor Pat's life will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2025, at 10am at Midway Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Seay Officiating. Burial will follow at the Coahoma Cemetery. Donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Midway Baptist Church Youth/Children's Ministry, The American Heart Association, or to a children's home or Boys & Girls Club of your choice.
Pat married the love of her life, DelRoy on June 8, 1961. They shared countless memories together and created a family that was the center of their world. Pat's life was a testament to love, strength, and family. She leaves behind countless cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband, DelRoy Buchanan, her devoted parents, Edwin R. "Rusty" Russell and Sadie Chesson Russell, her brother Charles Russell, and her brother-in-law Ralph Barr.
She is survived by her son, Rory Buchanan and his wife Susan, along with their daughters Brandi Berg and husband Justin, and Britni Walker and husband Josh. Pat is also survived by her daughter, LaRhonda Stanley and her husband D.F., and their children Kaylon Reed and husband Steven, Kay'C Stanley, and Kaleb Stanley and wife Coley. She is also survived by her sisters, Wanda Barr and Sandra Owens. Her legacy continues through her adored great-grandchildren: Sutton and Stratton Berg, Koevin Walker, Kasen and Kynlee Reed, Ayden, Charlee, and Ronnee Stanley. She is also survived by her special nephew, Carl Wayne Barnes and his wife Billie Sue, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Pat was a devoted homemaker and a loving caregiver, always putting the needs of her family first. This is most evident in the way she cared for her husband, DelRoy, truly showing what it means to honor a vow to love someone "in sickness and in health." She did it all with grace, devotion, and humor. Pat had an incredible gift for making everyone feel like family. She had a way of instantly becoming a mother or grandmother to anyone she met, embracing them with open arms and loving them as if they were her own. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and unwavering dedication to those she loved will be remembered forever. Those who knew Pat will never forget her laugh – bright, genuine, and completely infectious – a sound that brought joy to everyone and will live on in our hearts forever.
