Patricia Jane Côté

Patricia Jane Coté passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, California, surrounded by her three children. She had just turned 66.

Patricia grew up in Fresno, California. A proud Bruin, she attended UCLA, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. She then moved to San Diego to attend the University of San Diego School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor. In 1989, she returned to California's Central Valley and began her career as an attorney for the State Compensation Insurance Fund in Bakersfield, specializing in workers' compensation defense. While there, she received numerous awards for her outstanding performance.

Patricia was a devoted mother of three, dedicating her life to her children. Her deep Catholic faith was a constant source of strength and guidance. As a first-generation American, she proudly celebrated her Mexican heritage by cooking enchiladas and tostadas and listening to Spanish music. She also found joy in watching classic television shows such as Leave It to Beaver and I Love Lucy, as well as dancing and painting. A history buff, she had a particular interest in World War II books and documentaries. Patricia shared a special bond with her dog, Roger, who brought her joy and companionship during the last decade of her life.

Patricia is survived by her three children, Zachary, Natalie, and Jeremy Sanders. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Coté, and her mother, Eva Christensen.

She was kind, smart, and generous. Her compassion touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed.

A memorial mass will take place on Tuesday, April 1 at St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church in Bakersfield, California at 9:30 AM with a reception to follow. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 9:00 AM, prior to the service.
