Patricia Ann Clark, 87, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025.
She was born June 24, 1937, in Rural Holton, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mayme Alice (Spiker) Wallisch. She graduated from Denison Rural High School.
Following high school, she married Frank Chmidling on April 17, 1956. They had three children, Tim, Sherry and Rodney. They later divorced. She married James “Jim” Clark, Jr. on July 21, 1978, and was blessed with four stepchildren.
Pat worked for Capital City Bank as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement on September 16, 2004. After her retirement, Pat proudly dedicated her time at the Kansas Coalition against Sexual and Domestic Violence until 2020.
She was a faithful member of Lowman United Methodist Church, of Topeka where she served as Treasurer and Secretary on the Board. She also was a proud member of Jayhawk Club, various Bridge Clubs and the Horticulture Organization of Topeka.
Everyone that knew Pat knew her love for the KU Jayhawks. She collected various memorabilia items throughout the years. In her spare time, she loved to play bridge and go bowling. Pat and Jim were avid golfers and enjoyed their time together playing various courses. She had a knack for traveling. Pat was a George Brett fanatic and had a signed baseball that was a prized possession.
She leaves behind her children, Timothy Chmidling and Sherry (Dave) Umscheid; her step- children, Laura Danielson, David Clark, Timothy Clark and Bruce Clark; numerous step grandchildren; her sister, Melba Dodson and sister in-law, Marjorie Wallisch. She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney "Rod" Alan Chmidling; her husband, James "Jim" Clark, Jr.; her parents and siblings, Jack (Pat) Wallisch and Forrest Wallisch and brother in law, Orville Dodson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. Her family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow and she will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
