It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Majella Coolbroth, affectionately known as Pat/Patty/Trish/Trishy, on August 2, 2024 after battling a rare and devastating illness.
Patricia was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on January 24, 1945, to Frederic Landry and Irene (Richard) Landry. Her family emigrated to the United States (Massachusetts) when she was a young girl. Although she did not speak a word of English, she quickly settled in, making lifelong friends and creating a wonderful life for herself.
She graduated from St. Jean-Baptiste High School in Lynn, MA in 1963. Following graduation, she met the love of her life, George Robert "Bob" Coolbroth. They married on May 27, 1967, and had two daughters. Pat and Bob moved their family to south Florida in 1972, making it their permanent home, having lived there for over 50 years.
Patricia was an incredible woman. She was vibrant and lively, always lighting up a room. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. You can tell how much she cherished her life and the people in it by how she documented it all - not wanting to forget a thing! She was the keeper of everyone's memories - if you needed a photo from a certain year or special event, she was the go-to person. Her photos brought her so much joy and that included sharing them with everyone. She loved to travel, visiting many countries and going on countless cruises, always with a big group of friends! She was an avid reader, loved going to the beach, spending time with family and friends, and dancing - we can't forget how much she loved to dance!
Patricia adored her family, as well as her friendships. There was always room for old lifelong friends, as well as new ones. No matter what stage of life she met them, each friend was special to her.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Irene (Richard) Landry and Frederic Landry as well as her infant daughter Kristen Leigh (1972), She leaves behind her husband, George Robert (Bob) Coolbroth, Jr.; two daughters, Kelly Ann Cagney (James) and Colleen Woods (Colin); four grandsons, Austin Ryan, Karson Ryan, Connor Woods and Matthew Woods; three brothers, Ronald Landry (Elizabeth), Gerard Landry (Suzanne) and Robert Landry (Kathy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Despite the profound sadness we feel, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and free from suffering. We know she is in God's hands in heaven, smiling down on us and dancing happily as she reunites with the loved ones who have gone before her. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire all blessed to have known her.
To honor Patricia's life, a funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, 200 N University Dr, Plantation, FL 33324. https://church.saintgreg.org/CatholicChurch.php This will be followed by a celebration of life; location to be provided.
For those who are unable to attend services in Florida, there will be a celebration of life in Massachusetts the weekend of October 5th. Details to be provided at a later date.
