Patricia (Patty) Ann Mounkes Davis passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 25, 2022 at the Silverado Memory Care Community of Overland Park, KS.  She was born June 8, 1937 to John and Mary (Rosenquist) Mounkes in Neosho Rapids, KS.

She attended Americus high school and graduated in the class of 1955. She then attended the Newman Hospital School Of Nursing in Emporia, KS and graduated in September of 1958. After graduation she worked as a registered nurse at Saint Luke’s Hospital until around 1964. She also worked for several years as a registered nurse in the Eye Care Institute of the Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center hospital in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

Patty married the late J. Loyd Davis on May 18, 1963 in Kansas City, MO. Soon thereafter they moved to Prairie Village where they raised their two sons and had a significant role in raising their two granddaughters. Patty and Loyd were married for 48 years until his death in 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers David and John Mounkes, sisters Mary Weller and Cheryl Pritchard. Patty is survived by her son Curtis Davis and wife Karen of Columbia MO; her son Randall of Prairie Village; her grandchildren: James, Cassandra, Zachariah, and Ashley; sisters: Sandra Ross and Debra Hubert; brothers Jimmy Mounkes and Richard Mounkes.

Patty will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and loving soul who always saw the best in everyone and worked hard to support her family in many ways to the best of her abilities. Even though she lived most of her adult life in the Kansas City area, she loved to tell stories of her adventures growing up as the oldest of nine children on farms near Emporia, KS. Her apple pie and apple cookie recipes are legendary and will be carried into future generations.  Her life was lived as a blessing to others and she will be sorely missed. Her family grieves her loss but takes comfort in knowing that Loyd and Patty are together again.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm, Friday, December 2nd, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens. This will be immediately followed by a funeral service and graveside at the same location. Guests are invited afterward for fellowship and a meal provided by the family at a nearby barbeque restaurant.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
