In Memory of Carol Elaine Davis (nee Martin), 77, who passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Hospice of Western Reserve, in Cleveland, Ohio, after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Carol was born March 25, 1948, in Prince George's County, Maryland, daughter of the late John C. Martin and Ila (Trotter) Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Davis of Chicago, Illinois, and her sister, Jacqualyn Martin of Columbus, Ohio.

Carol was the oldest of two children, raised in Avon Lake, Ohio. Both of her parents were teachers. Her mother, Ila, was an elementary school music teacher in nearby Lorain, and her father, John (who went by Jack), taught fifth grade in Avon Lake. Carol tended to be a quiet child but her warmth drew in many friends. In junior high and high school, Carol was active in choir and played flute in band and marching band. She and sister, Jackie, enjoyed acting silly and laughing until their sides hurt, and remained lifelong close friends.

Carol graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1966 and enrolled in Albion College, in Michigan, where she met Paul Davis, whom she later married. Carol and Paul settled in Cleveland and then Willowick, Ohio. Carol worked as a model and an instructor at David Lee modeling agency before their daughter, Carrie, was born in 1975. Carol and Paul divorced five years later. Carol worked as a bank teller and an accounting clerk before retirement. She was devoted to two things in life, her daughter and her deep religious faith as a Jehovah's Witness. She also loved her "grand puppies" Skylar and Leia, and her "niece and nephew" cats she visited at Jackie's house. Carol was an avid animal lover and enjoyed watching deer and other wildlife in the woods behind her house. She also enjoyed playing Sudoku while watching cartoons on TV. Carol's warmth and wit will be sorely missed by friends and family.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Avon, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts in Carol's memory be made to the Lake County Council on Aging of Ohio ( www.lccoa.org) or the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org).
