Patricia Nina Gabriel, 79, took flight on wings of glory, April 9, 2024, at Bronson
Methodist Hospital, in Kalamazoo, MI surrounded by her family. She was preceded in
death by her father Norman Gabriel, mother Nina Bartlett Gabriel, and sister Norma
Margaret Metcalf.
Patricia was born on May 2, 1944, in Stephensville, Newfoundland Canada and raised
in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland. She is the third of twelve siblings. In 1964, Patricia
relocated to Albion MI and in1965 accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She
joined Gethsemane Temple COGIC under the leadership of Pastor James S Lee and
served as a Missionary, Evangelist, Sunshine Band Teacher, in the Kitchen Ministry,
and Performing Arts Ministry. She served for 2 years at John 3:16 Ministries and in
1995, joined Emmanuel Temple, re-named Emmanuel Covenant Church International,
under the leadership of Bishop Hugh and Letha Smith and now under the leadership of
Dr. Frederick James Sweet and Co Pastor Shannon Latrice Sweet whom she dearly
loved along with their daughters Atira and Azariah. She served in the prophetic
ministry, compassion, altar work, and as a mother in the church. In 2019 the nursery
was dedicated to her and named The Mother Gabriel Nursery in her honor.
Patricia's ministry of compassion led her to become a CNA working in geriatric care for
over 25 years. She decided to advance in healthcare and enrolled at Davenport
College for Phlebotomy. Her compassion extended beyond the workplace, she could
not bear to see others go without food or clothing and would give her last for those in
need.
She also enjoyed facilitating Bible Studies at Springview Towers. Patricia was an
anointed intercessor, and prophetess. She was a stranger to no one and fearlessly
would release a prophetic word or lead someone to Christ at any time in any place, as
the Holy Spirit led. Her prophetic anointing would manifest not only in spoken word but
also in her writings. She was frequently called upon to write resolutions and poems
during honorary events. In October of 2020, she published her first book of its series
called Jack and Warfare in the Dark Kingdom. Her goal has always been to bring
people of all ages to salvation and into a deeper relationship with Christ.
In addition to her lifelong dream of writing children's books, Patricia was an avid
seamstress. She would not only make much of her own clothing but would also support
her local assembly and community in making costumes, dance uniforms, hankies,
prayer shawls, and whatever was needed for the occasion.
She loved her children dearly and leaves to cherish her memory: Denise Gordon of
DeSoto, TX, Lesa (Larry) Henry of Battle Creek MI., Norman(Elizabeth) Rudolph, and
Nina Lane both of Albion, MI. Her siblings: Agnita (Bobby) Ladd of Wernersville PA;
Cyril(Betty) Gabriel of Perth, Ontario; Lorraine Gabriel of Stouffville, Ontario;
Marilyn(Gordon) Jones of Elliott Lake, Ontario; Randolph Gabriel of Cornerbrook,
Newfoundland; Sean(Ainsley) Gabriel of Perth, Ontario; Wayne(Adrianna)Gabriel of
Pickering Ontario; Teddy Gabriel-Senior of Burlington, Ontario; Gerald(Claudia)
Gabriel of Kingston, Ontario; and Robin(Reg)Young of Cornerbrook, Newfoundland.
Nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way, a
host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends: Annie Douglas and Mark
Vinsky, a special daughter Carolyn Walker and special grandsons Brandon Pettis and
Markeith Fitzpatrick.
Patricia will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Eddie, Lesa, Nina and Denise you are in my prayers! I remember Sis Pat always smiling and if you got her to laughing there was not stopping her. She always had a word of encouragement for you, and had the softest skin, she was such good friends with my mom, her gift of writing was so Awesome. Love you!

I will always love and remember Ms. Gabriel. Because of how kind she was to people. I remember when she spent the entire day with us when Liz and Eddie at the hospital as we waited for the birth of their first son. And she was so excited and happy. Also, how she was there for our family when we lost our father in 2004, a brother in 2008 and our mother in 2020.
But she will forever hold a special place in my heart because of how kind and caring she was to our mother when her health began to fail. At Brenden's graduation in 2014, I remember her by my mother's side the entire time. Asking her if she was too hot, if she needed anything to drink, fanning her and trying to block the sun from her when it did peak out that 90 degree day. After the graduation, I instantly became worried because people had started walking fast trying to get from the football stadium to where the graduates were in the parking lot. I didn't want momma to get pushed or anything. I looked up and over and saw Ms. Gabriel was walking and laughing next to momma and they were holding hands. I will never forget how much comfort she brought to me that day and showing momma so much love. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.
