Patty, age 79, went to be with her Savior February 16, 2023. For those left to Honor her Memory, Patty's Celebration of Life, her "get together" (her words), will be held at the Riverside Methodist Church 617 Wright Ave. Sioux City, IA 51109 on Saturday March 11, 2023, at 11:00. Her urn burial will be determined later.
She was born in West Point, Mississippi to Opal Pauline Bemis-Andrews & Eddie D. Hysmith. She was raised in Spencer, IA where she graduated Spencer High School Class of 1962. She married Wesley M. Johnson of Patterson, New Jersey in 1962. Patty had her first daughter in 1963, Lynn M. Johnson-Nemechek of Kansas. By 1969 she married Donald D. Handy of Spencer, IA. They came to Sioux City, IA where she had her second daughter in 1972, Dawn Pauline Handy-Price of Sioux City.
Patty loved her family beyond measure, and they all knew it without doubt. She had 4 grandkids. Jonathan M. Lopes-Nemechek (Heather) of OK, Shawnda L. Morrical-Rivera (Gabe) of Sioux City, Stephanie M. Morrical-Egdorf (Brandon) of Sioux City, Shad R. Morrical of Sioux City and six great-grandkids who called her Gigi. She is also survived by her brother, Chuck Rosewall of Cherokee, IA, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, one sister, Linda Anderson-Rausch, three younger brothers, Ken Rosewall, Sam Handy, Glen Handy, and one grandson, Brandon L. Nemechek.
Those who knew her say she was the sweetest and most kind woman they've ever met. Patty was a very giving person, especially to family and friends and was always willing to help. Even though that may mean she would go without. She will be deeply missed by many.
Condolences may be directed to Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel to be forwarded to the family.
