Patricia Katharine Hensien passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at her residence in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. Patricia was born to Patrick and Celestine (McManus) Curry in Chatham, Ontario, on October 11, 1936. After earning her teaching certificate, she began her career as a teacher first in Chatham and then in Windsor, Ontario.
In 1965, Patricia married Robert Hensien, and moved to Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, where they raised their two sons, John and Jim. The family enjoyed boating on Lake St. Clair, attending University of Michigan football games, and spending holidays and special occasions with their large and loving extended family. Patricia also enjoyed substitute teaching at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School, where she and Bob were active parishioners.
Following Bob's untimely passing in 1991, Patricia enjoyed traveling with family and friends. For more than two decades, she was the office manager and warm smiling face at the front desk of Jennings Dental in Grosse Pointe where she befriended countless patients and their families.
Patricia's greatest joys were living her Catholic faith and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her loving and uplifting nature in times of joy and sadness, her grateful and generous spirit, and her positive Christian example as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, John Curry (survived by Cecelia), Margaret Anne Clow (late Neil), and Sr. Ruth Marie Curry. She is survived by her sons, John (Sarah) Hensien, and Jim (Betsy) Hensien, her brothers, James (Joan) Curry, Partick (Jane) Curry, and Stephen (Luella) Curry (late Judy), and her grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Sydney, Megan, and Phoebe, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 10, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm (Rosary at 3:30pm) at Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. A Mass celebrating her life will be on Thursday, July 11, at 10:00am at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 1401 Whittier Road, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. Colorful attire is encouraged to celebrate the joy Patricia brought to many of our lives.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Patricia's dedication to Catholic education, please consider a donation to St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School, 16231 Charlevoix St., Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan.
