Patricia "Pat" J. Jacobson, age 70, of Willmar, passed away Thursday evening, May 15, at Bethesda Grand with loved ones by her side.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by her Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at the Willmar Assembly of God Church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Pat was born on August 28, 1954, in Willmar, Minnesota—the daughter of Donald and Phyllis (Johnson) Jacobson. She grew up in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1972. Willmar Assembly of God has been Pat’s church home since birth. After high school, Pat worked with her mother at the Village Shop in downtown Willmar. Later she worked at Craft Cottage and then J. C. Penny’s in the Kandi Mall. In its early days, Pat enjoyed assisting in the preschool housed at Willmar Assembly.
Anyone who knew Pat knew she had an eye for style and decorating. Hobbies included shopping, stamping and making greeting cards, and doing various craft and flower projects.
Family has been so important to Pat and she helped care for her parents and grandmother when needed. She enjoyed family time whenever she could and more recently Centennial Square residents had become as family, spending many hours playing games, working puzzles, and just plain being together.
The diagnosis of bladder cancer came a year and a half ago. Eventual surgery turned her way of living upside down as she learned a new way to function. Things were going well with treatment until metastases suddenly appeared. Pat fought a mighty battle in the last few weeks as the pain increased.
Pat is survived by one brother, Douglas (and Kathleen) Jacobson of Roseburg, Oregon, and two nieces, Jennelle and Cristina, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy.
