On February 12, 2025, we said goodbye to an extraordinary woman, Patricia Ann Maniscalco, who lived a long and rewarding life full of love, joy, health, faith, service, and adventure. Surrounded by family, Pat passed peacefully and painlessly, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and kindness.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in a large Irish family in Bay Ridge, Pat met the love of her life, Anthony (Murph) Maniscalco, at the Army PX at Fort Wadsworth. They married and raised five sons together, cherishing their family until Murph's passing in 1991.
A registered nurse with a specialization in gerontological care, Pat dedicated much of her life to serving others. As Director of Nursing at The Little Nursing Home in Montclair, she cared for thousands of patients over decades, retiring only three years ago.
Even in retirement, Pat's commitment to helping others remained unwavering. She began volunteering at Toni's Kitchen, a food pantry in Montclair, and continued to serve the community by working at Eva's Village in Paterson. Even as a supposedly elderly woman, she devoted 3-4 days a week to serving those in need, while still finding time to travel the world.
Travel was one of Pat's greatest joys. Whether she was visiting the Vatican in Rome, climbing Mt Etna in Sicily, going on safari in South Africa, enjoying tea in China, or relaxing on the beach in Turks and Caicos, Pat loved exploring new places. She even very recently took an extended trip to Singapore, Indonesia and Australia. She never rested.
Pat lived life without hesitation, tackling every opportunity with enthusiasm. She was dedicated to family, faith, and serving others, while never letting age or adversity hold her back. She experienced life fully and with an open heart, and her legacy will forever be one of love, warmth, and strength.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses: Paul and Connie, Peter and Noreen, Mark and Lisa, John and Mary, and Matthew and Adriana. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren and their spouses: Timothy, Michael and Caroline, Christopher and Tori, Megan, James and Beline, Liam, Finn, Connor, Sophia, and Matthew, as well as her great-grandson, Peter, the newest member of the family.
Family was incredibly important to Pat, and she was particularly close to the Heusslers, Galantes, and Cinques, who remained integral to her life. She had a wide and diverse circle of friends, from all walks of life. Whether at a backyard barbecue, tailgating at a Mets game, cheering on her grandson at hockey games, hanging out with her granddaughter/roommate Megan and her friends, walking her beloved dog Jackson, or sailing in the Caribbean, Pat could connect with anyone. She nurtured these friendships, making them lasting bonds that enriched her life.
Pat's spirit was one of joy, laughter, and resilience. She lived life on her own terms, never afraid to have fun, bring others joy, and enjoy the present moment-even in the face of hardship. Her light brightened the world, and now heaven will shine a little brighter with her presence.
Godspeed, Pat.
In lieu of flowers, Pat would have preferred donations to Toni's Kitchen or Eva's Village, which can be accomplished at https://toniskitchen.org or https://www.evasvillage.org/evas-community-kitchen.html.
If you donate, please let them know you are doing so in her memory. Thank you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Pat was a warm and wonderful person. When Mark and I became friends in college, it didn't take long for our mothers to meet and form a lifelong friendship. I have many fond memories of all of you big lovable Maniscalcos!

My friendship with Pat began as we worked together serving the community at Toni´s Kitchen in Montclair. She inspired me to start volunteering at Eva´s Village in Paterson. I enjoyed working with Pat because she was a genuine person who connected with people in such a positive way. We laughed and talked about things we had in common such as family and life experiences only baby boomers can relate to. She was so proud of her family, which was the heart of her life. I send my heartfelt condolences to all her family and friends. There´s a new star in heaven. I will truly miss her.
