Patricia L. Martin

Patricia L Martin, affectionally known as "Pat" or "Patty," passed away on Monday, December 1st, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
Pat was born on December 27, 1950, to the late Maurice and Herman Compton of Branchburg, New Jersey. She was a 1969 graduate of Somerville High School before marrying Gary E. Martin, also from Branchburg, NJ in 1972. During their 22-year marriage they had three children together and lived in High Bridge, NJ before relocating to Harmony Township, NJ in the late 1980's.
Throughout her life, Pat was dedicated to caring for others. She ran a successful day care and home cleaning business while raising her family and later worked for Abilities of Northwest Inc. in Washington, NJ for over a decade. She also held several part-time and seasonal jobs leading up to her retirement and settling in Phillipsburg, NJ to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Pat's greatest joy was her family. She loved cooking and sharing cherished family recipes with her daughters and played a very active role in the lives of her five grandchildren. There's no shortage of memories ranging from singing in the car post school pick-ups, Friday night pizza nights, sleepovers, midnight chats of encouragement, family vacations, love of the holidays to impromptu dance parties in the living room. Her kindness, warmth and unwavering support will be deeply missed.
Pat is survived by her daughters Jennifer Martin and Cheryl Marason, son in law David Marason Jr., son David Martin, five grandchildren Morgan Weaver, Tyler Marason, Lexis Karas, Keira Marason, and Kaitlyn Marason.
Her legacy of love and devotion lives on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of life visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home located at 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville.
