Patricia E. McElhiney (nee Carr), age 83, of Havertown, PA , passed away on September 22, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Emily L. Carr (nee Schrandt). Patricia lived a life full of love and laughter, always nurturing her family and embracing her passions with an open heart.
A proud graduate of West Catholic Girls High School, Patricia navigated her professional journey with grace and proficiency as a medical technician, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike. She epitomized kindness and compassion in all her endeavors, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to cross her path.
Patricia's personality was a delightful tapestry woven with threads of humor, support, patience, and unwavering love. Her laughter rang through her home, bringing joy to family gatherings and illuminating the lives of her loved ones. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her family, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that fostered connection and togetherness.
An avid sports fan, Patricia found joy in her love for Philly sports, often spending leisurely afternoons cheering on the Phillies. Her enthusiasm extended beyond the baseball diamond; she could often be found fishing, indulging in art and drawing, or immersed in a captivating book. Her favorite pastimes were complemented by her love for nature, as she took pleasure in walking and enjoying boat rides, particularly delighted by her favorite places in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Pleasantville, New Jersey.
A devout Catholic, Patricia's faith was a guiding force in her life. She was a woman of deep conviction whose spirituality was evident in her everyday actions and interactions with others. Her legacy of kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Patricia was the beloved wife of James McElhiney, Sr.; loving mother of James McElhiney, Jr. (Laurie), Sue McElhiney (Rinat), Ed McElhiney, and Tim McElhiney (Kerry); adoring grandmother of Bryce, Kylee, Brett, Peyton, Keira, and Russell; caring sister of Bob Carr and the late Eileen Rock. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Patricia's Viewing 9:00-10:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, PA 19083. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
