Patricia Metych (née Mitchell) passed away on November 3, 2025, surviving her late husband, and love of her life, John M. Metych, Jr., by eight years.Patricia is directly survived by her son, John M. Metych, III, her daughter-in-law Amy, and her grandson, John M. Metych, IV, who was the apple of her eye and what kept her going for so long after the devastating loss of her husband. Pat's parents, Casmira (Casey) Mitchell (née Faliszek) and Joseph Mitchell preceded her in death, along with her much loved grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Patricia is also survived by an extensive, loving, and tight-knit family including her sisters Barbara (John) Kwiatkowski and Marcia (the late Bruce) Hanson, and her brothers Bob (Chris) Mitchell and Joseph Mitchell. Pat's nieces, nephews, their spouses, and their children, were still strongly connected to her and include Tom (Michele) Kwiatkowski and their children Brandon (Kayla) and Megan; Daniel (Karen) Kwiatkowski and their daughter Karissa; Donna (Joseph) Buttice and their children Joseph, Emma, and Bella; Tracie Volkmar and her children Tyler and Payton; James Hanson; Kelly (Joel) Weber and their children Jacob and Justin. Patricia remained close to husband John's family and is survived by her sister-in-law Julie Bargiel and her brothers-in-law Thomas (the late Jeanette) Metych and Michael (the late Adriene) Metych. Nieces and nephews hold warm memories of "Aunt Pat", including David Bargiel; Daniel (Jamie) Bargiel and their daughters Lindsey and Caitlyn; Sherry Metych; Thomas Metych, Jr.; and Michele (Joseph) Metych. Pat was fond of her daughter-in-law Amy's daughter, Charlotte, and welcomed her into the family with joy. Patricia was also honored to be godmother to many on both sides of her family, which is a true testament to her loving nature and the faith and trust her entire family had in her.

Dedicating herself to managing the family and raising her son, Patricia stepped away from full-time employment upon her son John III's birth, however it is to be noted that Patricia had been both an accomplished bookkeeper, as well as a key-punch operator working with punch cards in the early days of computing, during her professional career. It was at work that she met the man who would one day become her husband, being introduced by a mutual friend. Pat had long considered re-entering the workforce on a part-time basis with Fannie May Candies due to her love for their Mint Meltaways but she chose not to, citing that she would likely spend the majority of her paychecks on said Mint Meltaways. Patricia was also well known by her son's classmates as "Mrs. Metych" as she volunteered at John's schools regularly. She served as one of the "room mothers" who accompanied the students on field trips (oh the stories she still told about those trips even the week before she passed!), designed in-classroom holiday party celebrations (including games, crafts, and gifts - including individually hand-painting Christmas ornaments one year and hand-decorating gourds for Halloween another), provided chauffeur service for her son's pet crayfish on "show and tell" days, and used her creativity for a variety of birthday celebration treats across her son's elementary grades. She also assisted with Cub Scouts when called on, hosted John's friends at the house for playing, swimming, and lunch (on the "veranda" as she would reminisce one of girls once calling her back yard deck), and was known to be one of the neighborhood parents that any child could turn to should they need assistance of any kind. Patricia loved to bowl, was in several leagues over the years, and bowled with family and friends alike - including competitive trips on occasion. She was well known as having the marbled-green bowling ball with a wicked curve. Patricia and John's first date was bowling, in fact. Pat loved dogs and is preceded in death by their family dogs Champ and Duke, and her son's dogs Darth and Bear, both of who loved Grandma! Each time Pat would end a call with her son, she would ask him to share her love with Amy, John IV, and "give the little one" (her son's current dog, She-Ra) a pat on the head for her.

She was generous and kind, enjoyed shopping for Christmas gifts and always tried to find the gift that was "just right" for each individual. Patricia was never happier than when she was with family. To her, family meant everything, and the entirety of her extended family will be mourning her loss for years to come. May she rest in peace, now reunited with her husband, John. Patricia's love for, dedication and devotion to, unwavering support of, and eternal bond with her best friend, partner, and soulmate truly represented the best the covenant of marriage has to offer. Patricia will be laid to rest next to John on her right, and her son John, and his wife Amy, will be laid to rest together on her left (when the time comes - hopefully many, many, many, many years from now - not anytime soon). Patricia would be overjoyed to know that father, mother, son, and daughter-in-law * her immediate family * will once again be together, in time.
