Patricia O'Brien

Dighton- Patricia Jean Shields O'Brien, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025. She was a woman of warmth, passion, and unwavering dedication to her family and her faith.
Patricia's deep faith guided her throughout her life, and her devotion to Christ and her church was an integral part of who she was. She found great comfort in her relationship with God and dedicated herself to serving her church community with love and kindness. Her faith was a source of strength in both joyful and challenging times, and she inspired those around her with her steadfast belief.
Family was everything to Patricia, and she took great joy in following her children and grandchildren's sporting activities, celebrating their achievements with enthusiasm and pride. A true Kansas native at heart, she was an ardent fan of KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs football, cheering passionately for her teams and sharing that love with those around her. She was also an avid reader, finding solace and adventure in the pages of countless books. Whether engrossed in a novel or enjoying the thrill of a gamble, Patricia lived life with a spirit of curiosity and excitement.
On November 8, 1958, Patricia married the love of her life, Maurice O'Brien. Together, they had 6 children.
She is survived by her children Gene, John, Tim, and Kathleen (Steve) Moorman, and her sister Judy Morrison. Her legacy lives on through her family, including five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great step-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; her sons, Maurie and Danny; and her parents, Eugene and Margarite Shields. Her legacy is one of love, joy, faith, and deep devotion to the people, passions, and beliefs that made her life rich and meaningful. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation hours will take place Wednesday May 7, 2025 from 12:00 (Noon) until 8:00 pm at Boomhower Funeral Home of Dighton. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am Thursday May 8, 2025 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Dighton, Kansas with Rev. Donald Bedore as officiant. Burial will be in St. John The Baptist Cemetery in Ness County. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Lane County Library, or St. Theresa Catholic Church all in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
