Patricia Elizabeth Oglesby, beloved wife, mother, Granny, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Known affectionately as Pat to her friends, Patty to her husband, Mom to her sons, and Granny to her grandchildren, she carried each of these titles with grace and boundless love.
Pat was born on October 30, 1945, in Tampa, Florida, to Evelyn and James W. Dupree. She later relocated to the Florida Panhandle with her mother and sisters in 1960, where she would eventually build a beautiful life and legacy.
In 1965, she married the love of her life, Joe Oglesby and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Through all of life's joys and challenges, their love remained steadfast-a testament to faith, commitment, and the deep bond they shared. She was proceeded in death by her devoted husband Joseph Houston Oglesby who went to be with the Lord less than four months before her- a testament of God's eternal love that allowed their bond to continue beyond six decades of marriage. Patricia was also proceeded in death by her mother Evelyn Greenwood, her father J.W Dupree (Sandra) and her beloved grandson Wyatt Houston Oglesby.
Pat is survived by her two sons, the lights of her life: Joseph Heath Oglesby (Connie) and Shane Dupree Oglesby (Deanne). She was the proud and adoring Granny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Haley Hallberg (Harlan, Caden, and Easton), Taylor Barnhill (Cody, Owen, and Tate), Anthony (daughter Payton), Brittany (children Jordan, Jace, and Jemma), Ali, and Alex.
She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Gabbard and Gloria Williams (David Sr.), as well as her nephews, Aubrey Clark, David Williams Jr. (Shana), Brian Williams (Susan).
Pat was a devoted woman of faith and a longtime member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, where she found great joy and purpose in serving the Lord. She especially loved her Sunday School class-first known as the Golden Oldies, and later the Sowing Sisters. Her ministry of encouragement through handwritten cards touched countless lives; if you knew Pat, chances are you've received one of her thoughtful notes marking a special moment, milestone, or simply to remind you that you were loved.
Although, she humbly thought of herself as just a homemaker, to all of us she was truly the heart and strength of our family. Pat was the steady presence behind her husband and the matriarch who kept everyone connected. Her love for her family was unwavering, second only to her love for Jesus Christ, whose message she shared freely and joyfully with everyone she met.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Emerald Coast Cancer Center for their compassion and care throughout the past three years, and to the team at North Okaloosa Medical Center for their kindness and professionalism during Pat's final days.
Pat Oglesby's life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and grace. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, but her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she so dearly loved.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 1:00-2:00pm at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the funeral service starting at 2:00pm, with Pastor Justin Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
