Patricia Ann “Patsy” Henry Bowman, 78, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta. Born on November 26, 1946, in Valdosta, Georgia, Patsy was the beloved daughter of the late Evelyn Hiers and William Richard “W.R.” Henry.
Patsy grew up in Valdosta, graduating from Valdosta High School before earning her bachelor’s degree in education from Valdosta State College and later her master’s from the University of Louisville. Teaching was not just her profession it was her calling. She poured her heart into the classroom, teaching elementary students in Valdosta, Jacksonville, Ft. Lauderdale, Cherokee County, Louisville, Denver, and Paulding County. She left a lasting impression on countless children through her patience, creativity, and dedication.
A proud member of Phi Mu Sorority, Patsy was active in several local, state, and national teacher organizations. She cherished friendships formed over the years through her professional and personal life. In her later years, she found deep joy and spiritual community at Due West Methodist Church, where she was an active member of a small group.
Patsy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to Rob (Meredith) Bowman of Dallas, Georgia, and Brook (Sam) Lotze of Louisville, Kentucky. Her face lit up when she spoke of her grandchildren—Tanner Lotze, Kendall Bowman (Wells) Scott, Macy Lotze, and Blake Bowman. “Mimi,” as they lovingly called her, was known for her warm hugs, thoughtful cards, and support. She also leaves behind her dear brothers, Barry (Janis) Henry of Atlanta and Jack (Lisa) Henry of Valdosta, as well as a niece, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A graveside memorial gathering and committal was held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens in Valdosta. The service was officiated by The Reverend Dr. Anthony McPhail.
