Patricia Jean “Patty” Pachel, age 61, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND, surrounded by family. Patty was born on June 6, 1963, number 6 of 8 kids to John and Bette (Stephens) Pachel of Ponsford at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN.
She attended grades one through four at Osage Elementary School and then attended the Park Rapids School District where she graduated with the class of 1981. She spent a year at Alexandria Vocational School.
She spent many hours helping out at her parents’ hardware store in Ponsford. She worked at the Royal Bar in Park Rapids. She started at Lamb Weston/RDO Frozen on September 11, 1983, and had to retire when she broke her leg after 40 years of working there. She had a kidney transplant August 25, 1994, when that failed she started dialysis December 2010 in Detroit Lakes. She was on dialysis for 14 years.
She loved watching the Twins and the Vikings, going to casinos, bowling, spending time with great nieces, great nephews, and all her family members. She loved it when the family stopped by for a visit. She will sadly be missed by her family, friends, and coworkers.
She will be lovingly remembered by her five siblings: Pam (Ronnie) Scholz of Boot Lake, Dan (Kathy) Pachel of Ponsford, Donny of Osage, Ron (Ruth Ann) Pachel of Menahga, Linda (Scott) Hogan of Hartford, SD; sister-in-law, Deb Pachel of Park Rapids; aunt, Bonnie Tullgren of San Antonia, TX; as well as 6 nieces, 10 nephews, 17 great nieces, 18 great nephews, 2 greats on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Bette; brother, Steve; sister, Kathy; brother-in-law, Steve Weller; as well as many aunts , uncles, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the National Kidney Foundation. Please wear Twins, Viking or blue.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Jones Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held March 7, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM at Jones Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service on Saturday.
