Patricia Rivas Obituary
Patricia Ann Rivas died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning January 2, 2024 in Columbia, Maryland.
She was the daughter of Carlos Rivas and Virginia Wolfe of Frederick, MD. She was predeceased by her siblings Ariana Sheehan (Charles), Paul Rivas, and Carl Rivas (Theresa).
Patricia "Patty" Rivas graduated from Seton High School in Baltimore, MD, in the class of 1948. She graduated from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD and took graduate courses at UMBC in Catonsville, MD.
She then embarked on a long career at Baltimore Gas and Electric Company in Baltimore, MD as a supervisor of software development. After retiring, she was an active member of the Women's Club in Catonsville and was a long time member of St. Mark's Church in Catonsville. Patty was an avid painter and she loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She had a deep love of nature and the outdoors as well as animals. Her dogs, Ben, Molly, and Barclay were family to her.
She was predeceased by her niece Mary Lou Sheehan Fanelli (Joseph). She is survived by her nephews Charles Sheehan (Victoria), Paul Rivas (Tammy), and Mark Rivas; her great-nephews and -nieces Matthew (Sonia), Amy, Katie, Colleen (Isaac), Elizabeth, Sarah, and David; as well as her many great-great nieces and nephews, her "kiddies," whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia's memory to The Wilderness Society, 1801 Pennsylvania Ave, NW Suite 200, Washington, DC 20006.
