Patricia (Pattie, Pat) Rene Rodgers,
Age 67, of White Oak, PA, formerly of Port Vue, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Family Hospice of
Pittsburgh, PA. Our beloved sister was a Jill-of-ALL trades, selfless animal lover, non-stop maker of fun, and courageous fighter in the face of chronic illness.
Pattie had a unique approach to life and a unique life journey. Her work ranged from nursing student to compounding pharmacy tech; EKG tech to home healthcare aide; PT assistant to massage therapist to fitness trainer; many retail positions; and, closest to her heart, pet sitter extraordinaire. Pattie will forever be remembered as a generous giver, to loved ones and animals alike. She always had a glint in her eye, even when she was feeling cantankerous, and had the spirit of a prankster. Her creative and thoughtful birthday and Christmas gifts (even when she had little to spend on herself) were often intentionally wrapped so tightly that it took forever to open them. Each Christmas, Pattie looked on with delight and laughed her signature, booming, infectious guffaw as we clawed at our presents and eventually unearthed the gift she had carefully selected for each of us.
Pattie marched to the beat of her own drum and created according to her own recipes, both literal and metaphorical. When it came to her culinary creations, which she passed out generously to coworkers, neighbors, and friends, Pattie followed her heart rather than any conventional recipe. While she may have left out the baking soda on occasion, intentionally or otherwise, she never left out the love.
Pattie had a deep connection to and selfless love of animals, both domesticated and wild. The menagerie in her heart-and often in her apartment-included large tropical birds she chatted to and laughed with, cats (stray and otherwise), and even woodland creatures. Especially beloved was her Nanday parrot, Hexy, who shared her life for many years.
We will forever be proud of Pattie's many life accomplishments and thankful for her joyous spirit and boundless love. Despite enduring many health challenges throughout her life, Pattie always embraced the fun, and she entertained us all with her perpetual shenanigans. She was our miracle, and we were fortunate to have been able to call her our sister for as long as we did.
Pattie was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Monica Rodgers, of Port Vue, PA. She is survived by her siblings Michele Rodgers Lishack (Dave) of New Sewickley Township, PA; Brian Rodgers of Camp Hill, PA; Denise Rodgers (Jon) of Jersey City, NJ; and nephews Oliver, Owen, Eli, and Gavin; Penelope, her cat; her Park Baptist Church family in Versailles Boro, PA; her Community Life family in McKeesport; and the compassionate nurses and doctors at Family Hospice in
Pittsburgh, PA.
Patricia Rodgers' celebration of life will be held at Park Baptist Church in the spring of 2026. Remembrances can be made in Pattie's name for any of the following charities that meant so much to her: Park Baptist Church of Versailles Boro, PA; Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh; Community LIFE/LIFE Pittsburgh; Family Hospice of
Pittsburgh, PA; or the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
