Patricia "Pat" Rossano, a beacon of light and warmth in the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in Southeast, New York. Born in Long Island City, NY on October 14, 1938, to the late Peter and Elizabeth Hawkins, she embarked on a journey that would be marked by love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit that touched countless hearts.
Pat embraced life with unrivaled enthusiasm and an infectious smile that never faded. As an integral part of the community, she worked tirelessly as a Mental Health Worker at Four Winds Hospital in Katonah, NY, where her compassion and dedication to others' well-being made a profound impact. Pat believed in the healing power of humor and believed much like Charlie Chaplin, "a day without laughter is a day wasted". And, true to these words, Pat filled each day with joyful laughter and encouraged others to do the same.
Her greatest sense of purpose and joy came from her beloved family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Angelo S. Rossano, who predeceased her in 2016. Together, they built a foundation of love that continued to grow through their children, Kathleen, Angelo, and Patricia, and further blossomed with her cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin, Alyssa and Richard, as well as her adored great-grandson Jayce. Pat's siblings, Richard, Bill, and Peter Hawkins, Naomi Russo, and Joan Tamola, all of whom predeceased her, shared in the abundant love that defined Pat's life.
Education was a valued part of Pat's life, having attended college and carrying with her a lifelong love for learning and personal growth. Her friendly demeanor made her a gifted conversationalist and a loyal friend to many. Pat was an ardent animal lover, always surrounded by her cherished pets who added further joy to her home. She held a firm belief that family was everything-her relationships with her children and grandchildren were not only a source of immense pride but also her greatest joy. Her love was as vast as her jokes were many, and the laughter she shared with them will resonate in their hearts forever.
As we bid farewell to Pat, we remember a woman whose loving nature and friendly disposition made her a beloved figure in her community and beyond. She lived her life with the conviction that kindness and laughter could fill the darkest of rooms with light. In honor of her beautiful legacy, let us each find time to share a smile and a laugh, to brighten the world as she brightened ours.
Patricia Rossano's presence will be profoundly missed, but the love and laughter she gifted to the world will proudly live on within the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
