West Rutland On March 23, 2024, surrounded by her close family and friends, Patricia "Pat" Serrani passed away peacefully at age 83 after a brief illness. To know Pat was to love her, or quite possibly fear her as many adoringly joked over the past few days. Her presence was always known when she was at any of her favorite places, endearingly called "Aunt Pat" or "Nanny Serrani" by those with no relation to her. She was a well-known staple in the greater Rutland area over the last several decades and will truly be missed by all.
Pat had a heart of gold for her family, friends, and community. Her years of community service were clear evidence of this including volunteering at The Open Door Mission, collaborating with WSYB for the Christmas Fund, helping at the West Rutland Legion, setting up Jamborees at the Moose or Cripple Creek, working with
"Shop with a Cop", as well as many other fundraising efforts for local organizations. There was nothing that made her happier, other than possibly Bingo on Thursday nights, supporting her sons and daughters in-law in all of their endeavors, or watching her grandchildren perform in an athletic or music event.
Some fond memories include all of the times at the Moose Club, following Joe while he played in various bands, Christmas Eve parties, the Cruise with David's family, spending time in Jersey with Stevie and Barbie, all of the Barre trips for Carl, Matt, and Ali's teams, casino trips, making jam at JoJo's house, and calling her kids and grandkids home from The Tavern to start the holiday dinner. We will do our best to continue the traditions she set forth as the matriarch of our family, but there will always be a void left unfilled without her there.
Pat is survived by her four beloved sons, Carl, JoJo, David, and Stevie, her daughters-in-law Laurie and Barbie, her grandchildren Matthew (Jess), Ali (Brad), Kasey (Bailey), Tyler, Kenny, Todd, and Jordan, her sister Carol Bletz, nieces Chris Moore and Trudy Cameron, nephews Rick Aldridge and Tim Longley, her close friends and card buddies AnnMarie, Debbie, Margaret, Mary, and Linda, former daughters-in-law Marci Barrows and Dianna Miller, her sweet dog Missy, and many great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Milan and Philena Densmore, her husband Joseph Serrani, her siblings Edna, Dot, Jimmy and Bob, her nieces Debbie and Judy, her granddaughter Michelle, and her dogs Scruffy and Leia.
A "Party for Pat" will be held on April 13th from 1pm-5pm at the West Rutland Legion. Please come and enjoy each others' company in remembrance of our Sunshine. One of Pat's favorite gifts to give to her boys every year were socks, something that became a running joke in our family, thus in lieu of flowers, monetary or sock donations may be made to:
The Open Door Mission 31 Park St.
