Patricia Elizabeth Farris Shearer was born in Berea, Kentucky, on April 6, 1939, to the late Lucy Regans Farris (Jennings) Harris and Edward Farris. Sug, as she was known to many, was a force of love, delight, and a safe haven to all she encountered. She was a dynamic woman who never met a stranger not worthy of conversation.

She was a Sunday School teacher and served as a Youth Institute Supervisor for the New Liberty Sunday School Convention.
Patricia lived most of her life in Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband of 48 years, the late Edgar "Chuck" Shearer, and their five children. She retired from IBM, where she worked many years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son William "Bae" Shearer; brothers Morris "Sonny" Farris, Archie Farris, and David Harris; her favorite aunt, Pauline "Norn" Banther; and nephew Morris "Pete" Farris.
She is survived by two daughters, Valerie (Robert) Brown and Regans Jo-Carol Shearer; two sons, Edgar Shearer III and Samuel Shearer; stepdaughter Brenda (Floyd) Covington; stepson Don (Brenda) Shearer; granddaughters LaDonda (Tadd) Porter, Tawana Brown, Telecia (Michael) Coleman, Victoria Shearer, Patricia Shearer, Whitney Schuster, Alexus Henderson, and Leah Freeman; grandsons Robert Brown III and Brenton Covington; great-granddaughters Shemsa Brown, Isabelle Brown, and Makiyah Coleman; great-grandsons William Cloyd and Christian Cloyd; sister Nancy "Cissy" Harris; brothers Johnny (Marva) Harris, Mendell Harris, and Jennings "Budgie" Harris; godsons Aaron (Jamie) Banther and Jonathan Mayberry; nieces Thornton Marie "Prucy" Warford, Jennifer (Ozon) Mitchell, and Yvonne (Derrick) Cantrell; nephews Edward Farris and Johnny Harris Jr.; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at the Farristown Baptist Church. Rev. Thomas Farris will officiate, and Rev. Dr. Robert R. Blythe will be the eulogist. Burial will follow on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY.
