Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - St. PetersPatricia A. Sortor, a beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Chesterfield, Missouri, on March 3, 2026. Born on January 21, 1949, Patricia lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering spirit of love and service.
A graduate of Washington University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Patricia embarked on a successful career that included her tenure at Monsanto and her dedicated work alongside her husband in their family’s insurance agency. Yet beyond her professional achievements, Patricia’s proudest roles were those closest to her heart: being the loving wife to Jim, nurturing mother to their three sons Sean, Travis and Todd as well as a cherished grandmother to her 5 grandchildren Abby, Ellie, Camden, Harper and Riley.
Patricia was known for her outgoing and energetic nature. Ever the social butterfly, she had a remarkable ability to light up any room with her warmth and vivacity. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying a spirit of selflessness that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her enthusiasm for life extended into her personal pursuits; she found joy in tennis, crafting, and spending treasured hours socializing with her friends, while her love of reading enriched her world in quiet moments.
Her loss is deeply felt by her loving husband, James Sortor, and her beloved sons, Sean (Michele), Travis (Melinda), and Todd who carry forward the legacy of love and strength that Patricia embodied every day. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Cook and Annamay (George) Brilz, and her siblings Dick Cook, Don Cook, and Rita Nelson, whose memories live on in her heart.
A visitation to honor Patricia’s life will be held on March 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, West County, located at 2211 Clarkson Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63005. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share stories, and find comfort in one another’s presence as they celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose spirit will forever remain in their hearts.
Patricia’s journey was one filled with love, laughter, and a compassionate heart. Her vibrant soul and generous nature have left an indelible imprint on all who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
