Patricia G. Stribling, age 88, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at Autumn Woods Health and Rehab in New Albany, Indiana, surrounded by love and comfort.
Born on July 2, 1937, Patricia lived a long and beautiful life filled with kindness, laughter, and unwavering care for others. She devoted much of her career to Norton Cardiovascular Associates in Medical Records, where she took great pride in her work and the friendships she built along the way. Patricia had a special fondness for the summer workers who came through the office each year-she quickly became "Mom" and "Grandma" to them all, offering wisdom, warmth, and homemade treats with open arms.
Patricia's love for life extended far beyond her career. She found great joy in the outdoors-watching birds flutter about, listening to the songs of frogs in the evening, and delighting in the playful antics of squirrels. Her yard was her sanctuary, lovingly tended with care and filled with the beauty of her touch. Since 1967, she called her neighborhood home, and her sense of community was unmatched. As the dedicated head of the neighborhood "Funeral Patrol," she organized collections for funeral dinners, easing the burden of loss for countless families. Her compassion and selflessness left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
To her family, Patricia was affectionately known as "G," a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose gentle spirit and unconditional love bound generations together.
She is survived by her children, Willie York (Kym) and Kim Decker (Anthony); stepchildren, Kelly Fife and Kenneth Stribling Jr. (Jill); brother, Gary Nickell (Patty); grandchildren, Joseph Moses (Kelly), Emily Locke (Bryan), Elle Decker (Joshua McMillan), Shelby Rae York (Jesse Walker), Samuel K. York (Keyla Valerio), Amy Sad, Joshua York (Karen), Amanda Hoskins, Kevin Fife and Kristie Stribling ; and her great-grandchildren, Aislin, Regan, Larkin, Miran McDowell and Tullen McMillan, Calliope and Elliot Walker, Nathen, Aiden, and Taylor Moses, Alexandra and Ava York, Isabella, Connor, and Sophia Sad, Kristie Stribling, Parker, Paisley, and Preston Hoskins, and Kaylee and Miles Fife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Ruth Nickell, her husbands, Duncan York and Kenneth Stribling., son, Donald York, and brothers, Robert and Ralph Nickell.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway,
Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial at Charlestown Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing staff at Autumn Woods Health and Rehab for the love and care they showed to "Granny" and "Grandma." Your kindness and compassion brought great comfort to her and to all who loved her.
