Patricia Mae Wheaton Swecker, 88, of Franklin, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

She was born August 11, 1937, in Upper Tract, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Earle Wheaton and Lena Mae (Heavner) Wheaton.

She was Valedictorian of the 1955 Franklin High School graduating class and worked for William McCoy, Sr., the ASCS office, and Monterey Livestock Market. She was a Tupperware consultant before her retirement. She was an active member of 4-H, the Homemaker's Club, and the Franklin Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Swecker loved to cook and bake, especially homemade bread, and enjoyed sewing, making counted cross stitch, quilting pillows and reading books.

On August 29, 1964, she married David Hammer Swecker, who preceded her in death on November 14, 2021. A son, David Earle Swecker, a brother, Richard Heavner Wheaton, an infant brother, William Earle Wheaton, and three sisters, Mary Louise (Hobert) Mullenax, Jean Marie (Ebur) Mays and Emma Kate (Allen) Hathaway predeceased her. Patricia was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are –

A son – Richard Eldridge Swecker of McGaheysville, VA

A granddaughter – Sutton Swecker

A grandson – Bryar Swecker

And a number of nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday, August 23 at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 24 at the Upper Tract Presbyterian Church with Pastor Deborah Beam officiating.

Interment will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery at Upper Tract.

Memorials may be made to the Pendleton County Historical Society, P. O. Box 293, Franklin, WV 26807.
