Reflections of Life for Patricia (Chatmon) Tarpley
Patricia (Chatmon) Tarpley, affectionately known as Pat, was born on February 5, 1949, in Farmhaven, Mississippi, to her loving parents Maxine Williams and Crawford Chatmon. She was the oldest with three siblings, Larry, Pretis and Danny.
At the age of six, Pat, her brothers Larry and Pretis moved with the family from Farmhaven Mississippi to Columbus, Ohio where her parents began working and she began attending 11th Avenue Elementary School. Pat loved her family very much and would over the years be very supportive and protective of her three younger brothers.
The family moved from the north side of Columbus to the South side where she attended Marion-Franklin High School where she was a "Marionette" (drill team). She was a good student and would often be listed on the Honor Roll for her academic achievements. Pat also loved to draw and became good at it to the extent that she won a National Portrait drawing contest as a teenager.
After graduation she began a working career with Oho Bell, the telephone company which lasted over 27 years. During her tenure at Ohio Bell, Pat met and was married to Michael Tarpley and to that union was born Angela their daughter. She has two grandchildren, Makai and Samaj whom she adored. Pat loved working in her yard and hosting Holidays and family gatherings at her home.
Pat passed away on December 11, 2024, after having spent years in an Assisted Care facility. She is proceeded in death by her parents; siblings Pretis and Danny and is survived by her daughter Angela, her grandchildren, Makai and Samaj; her brother Larry (Loretta) Chatmon; nieces and nephews, Glennelle Blount, Rene Chatmon, Lawrence (Danielle) Chatmon, Kevin Chatmon, Darryl Chatmon and Christopher McElroy; along with a host of treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and friends.
