Patricia A. Taylor, 89, passed away peacefully in Indianapolis on August 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and joyful memories. Patricia was born on February 13, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Herman Meadows and Ruth Smith. She was a beloved member of the Indianapolis community and a dedicated professional who served as an Administrative Assistant for the State of Indiana for over 40 years.
Throughout her career, Patricia exemplified a strong work ethic and a commitment to helping. Her enthusiasm for volunteering brought her considerable joy, particularly through her work with St. Vincent DePaul and her role in assisting with funeral meals at St. Mark Catholic Church where she was a parishioner for many years. Her compassionate nature and willingness to lend a hand to those in need endeared her to many.
Patricia will be remembered for her warm and inviting personality. She never knew a stranger and took great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. Holidays spent at her home were filled with laughter and love, as she cherished the moments that brought her loved ones together. She had a passion for playing dominoes with her friends, who affectionately referred to themselves as the "CODS" — Classy Old Dames. In addition to dominoes, Patricia enjoyed a variety of card games, particularly euchre, providing countless hours of entertainment and camaraderie.
She relished vacationing in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, where she found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Patricia could often be found with a good book in hand, drawn into different worlds through the pages.
Patricia is survived by her son; Steve (Mary Beth) Sleeth, grandchildren; Chad (Chrissy) Bond, Rob (Kelly) Taylor, and Toni (Luke) Taylor, great-grandchildren; Isaac, Noel, Lydia, and Malia, along with family friends; Amie and Charlie Walls.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband; Robert R. Taylor and siblings; Warren Smith, and Virginia Duran.
