It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia M. Thomas, who peacefully departed this world on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 87 surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born on November 22, 1937, to Victor and Evelyn Pether in Mt Clemens. Patricia was married for 66 wonderful years to her beloved husband, Bernard R. Thomas, who she now joins in eternal rest.
A dedicated and beloved mother and wife. She was a loving mother to Bernard M. Thomas, Cynthia (Michael) Killian, Brian (Tammy) Thomas, Christine (Christopher) Carneal and Catherine Thomas. The joy of her life extended to her grandchildren, Amanda, Stephanie (Ryan), Brad, Nicole and Joshua and she took great pride as a great grandmother to Michael and Jack.
Patricia was a devoted daughter and sister and was predeceased by her parents Victor and Eveyln Pether, along with her grandson, Jason Killian, and sister Nancy Pether.
Patrica was a crafter, teacher and designer, she started doing crafts to relieve the boredom. She had attended a class at a local craft store and soon afterward found herself teaching classes. This led her designs to be recognized by national companies asking her to design for them. One of which was WFR Ribbon Company. She taught at national seminars for wholesalers in Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Anaheim and Chicago. Her designs were featured on the covers of national craft magazines. She was once a guest on the Carol Duvall Show demonstrating a craft project. Patrica had been invited to New York and decorated the Christmas tree on set for the Maury Povich Show. During this time, she also raised 5 children an owned and operated a small chain of craft stores with her husband Bernard named The Basket Hut. The store sold crafting supplies and Patricia taught crafts such as silk floral designs, macrame, tole painting, quilling, decoupage and much more. At the store Patricia also designed silk florals for weddings. Designing centerpieces, arrangements for the alter, Bridal party bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres.
Patricia's favorite time of the year was the Christmas holiday season. The gift giving would start at Thanksgiving when she gave each of her children an ornament for Christmas. She loved spoiling her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would always design a door wreath or Christmas decoration for their homes.
In later years she picked up scrapbooking. She created many memory albums for her family and friends to keep as heirlooms.
She also enjoyed spending time with her sister – in – laws. They would meet for the movies, shopping, playing cards and family vacations together.
Pat also enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, watching Hallmark channel, HGTV and an occasional court TV show.
To honor Patricia's life a Memorial Mass will be held on November 7, 2025, at 10:30 AM preceded by visitation at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary Queen of Creation Catholic Church, 50931 Maria St. New Baltimore.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her in her legacy of love, faith and family will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
