A private burial will be held at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Pat passed away on Sunday morning, March 2, 2025, at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth, MN, after a battle with cancer for almost 19 years. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Patricia Ann (Klint) Witty was born on November 4, 1941, to Virgil E. Klint and Pearl M. (Reed) Klint. She was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1959. In 1960, Pat met her future husband, Bob Witty on the dance floor at the Kato Ballroom and they later married on September 8, 1962. This union was blessed with 2 sons, Scott C. Witty and Christopher J. Witty. Pat worked at Fidelity Bank and Trust in Minneapolis for 7 years while Bob was in college, after which they moved to Mankato and then in 1974, moved to Fairmont.
In Fairmont, Pat was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Council, the Worship Team, and the Banner Committee. Pat made both the Baptismal Banner and the Funeral Banner among others. She also helped start the Prayer Shawl Ministry, joined the Mary Circle, and attended the Community Bible Study. Pat took on the role of Cub Scout Den Mother while her 2 sons were involved in scouting. She began volunteering at the Salvation Army, becoming a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and served as President for several years. Pat worked in the Joy Shop at Christmas and helped at the food shelf when Bob started working there. She started volunteering at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, sorting the donated items by holiday so they could be displayed at the proper time. Pat recruited many of her friends to volunteer to help. She also volunteered to help students with the reading program at Budd School.
Pat loved to quilt and belonged to the Prairie Star Quilt Guild. She made many quilts for friends and family as well as donating quilts for various fundraisers. One quilt she made was a hand-stitched whole-cloth quilt that she made for the Mayo Hospital Auxiliary fund raiser that sold at auction for $3,000. She was recognized for all her volunteer work by the Fairmont Exchange Club when they named her the recipient of "The Book of Golden Deeds Award" for 2000. Pat also enjoyed playing golf and playing Marathon Bridge which she did with her golf and Bridge partner, Sandy Ettesvold.
Besides her husband, Bob Witty, and her two sons, Scott (Elizabeth) Witty of Mankato and their son, Jacob, and Christopher Witty of Buffalo, WY, Pat is survived by 6 siblings: brothers, Darrell Klint (Vicki) of Los Angeles, CA, Ronald Klint (Ruth) of Portland, OR; sisters, Darlene Parks of Fairmont, MN, Sherry Turtle (Gary) of Sarasota, FL, Sandy George (Jerry) of Sun City West, AZ, and Barbara Teske (Michael) of Sarasota, FL; sister-in-law, Carole Witty of Pennsylvania; and brother-in-law, Gerald Hoogland of Naples, FL.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Pearl Klint; parents-in-law, Robert and Hazel Hoogland; brothers-in-law, Ronald Witty, and Alton Parks; and sister-in-law, Chae Sun Hoogland.
The family prefers any memorials be given to Grace Lutheran Church Missions, or United Hospital District (UHD) Hospice in Fairmont, or to the Martin County Historical Society at the museum.
