Patricia "Pat" (née Melvin) and Pearce "Nick" Zahn passed away July 15, 2025. They were married for over fifty years. Loving parents of Jacqueline Zahn, Kathleen Todd (Larry King), and Andy Zahn (Mary). Adoring Grammy and Poppy of Kaitlyn, Madeline, Henry, and Owen. Patricia was the dear sister of Jack Melvin and the late Dennis and Francis Melvin. Nick was the brother of Kenneth Zahn (Carol) and the late Barbara Adams. Aunt and uncle to Timothy Melvin, Jennifer Mougeotte (née Melvin), Aine Melvin, Karen Zahn-Anderson, Heather Zahn Gardner, and the late Larry Zahn. They also had a close and life-long friendship with Mary Lou and Jim MacMillan and they certainly loved their grand-cats and grand-dog.

Pat and Nick Zahn were loving and devoted parents who will be remembered for many things. Both were dedicated to the welfare of animals and nature. In her later years, Pat worked at a veterinary office and also volunteered helping to trap stray cats to give them whatever medical attention was needed. In retirement, Nick volunteered his time at the Churchville Nature Center and was an avid birder, an interest he shared with many friends. The times he spent in nature, whether looking for the elusive Red-winged blackbird, exploring nature trails, or camping with the family, provided him peace and solitude. Pat's painting hobby, at home or in art classes with friends was her source of joy and relaxation. The walls of her home offer proof of her skill and love of painting. Nick also had creative skills but his were more practical, he was the consummate handy-man and could build or fix anything he set his mind to.

Pat and Nick also shared several interests, one in particular was attending concerts together inspired by Pat's love of music. The house was usually filled with her singing along with Jackson Browne, the Eagles, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, the Band just to name a few. They also enjoyed having dinner with friends, hosting family gatherings for special events, taking in films at the County Theater in Doylestown, and spending time in Cape May. But what brought them the most joy was supporting their grand kids in their athletic and artistic endeavors. These times will be remembered fondly in the years to come.

Services to honor and celebrate the lives of Pat and Nick will be held at a later date. Contributions in their memories may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Churchville Nature Center.

A piece of my heart broke when I heard of Nick and Pat´s passing. My late husband Bill and I were in their wedding and they were in ours.
Over the years we shared many vacations when our children were small.
We had great times together and I have wonderful memories. Life will never be the same without them.

Sending our deepest condolences to the family. A wonderful couple with such devotion and love for each other. Nick was always willing to offer advice to novice birders at Churchville Nature Center. It was such an honor to go birding with Nick. He always seemed to be at peace when he was outdoors listening and observing wild birds. We know they´re both at peace now. Mary & Geoff Penney

I´m privileged to have known Nick during my volunteer days at Churchville Nature Center then as a novice birder. He taught me a lot through his actions especially how to be calm when things aren´t going well. RIP Nick.

I had the pleasure of knowing Pat and Nick through my sister Marylou MacMillan and her husband Jim. I had enjoyed some great times with them years ago in the "Philly Days". Throughout the years since, I have enjoyed seeing Pat occasionally when I was with Marylou and I witnessed their beautiful friendship.
Pat and Nick were such warm and wonderful people.
My sincere condolences go to their family, their friends and especially to their children and grandchildren, whom they treasured.

We knew Pat and Nick through Tim's identical twin brother Jim and his wife Marylou. They were best friends and my late husband Tim, and I shared many good times with the four of them. I am heartbroken they are gone, but I will cherish the times we shared. Rest in peace Pat and Nick -~you will be in my heart forever.

Pat and Nick, it is so sad and so impossible to believe that you are gone. Pat, you have been my best friend for the last 54 years; we had so much fun together for all those years, you guys are the best and we loved hanging out with you, both of you were special in so many ways, we really loved you and miss you. We spent a lot of time in the back driveway when we both lived in Philly, we had barbeques in our back yards, we had lots of friends there and had such fun times, our kids were little then, it still seems like yesterday sometimes!
Jim and I and you guys moved to Bucks County many years ago and we still had many great times, we still had barbeques, the kids were growing up so fast and we didn't see you as often, but you were still our best friends. We had several get togethers' with Jim's twin brother, Tim and his wife, Marian - we all got along so well and had so much fun. I wish it could have gone on forever; Tim is gone now too - maybe you'll run into him in heaven! Wish I could give you each a big hug!
Nick's hobby was bird watching; he used to look up to see them; now he looks down to see them! I hope the angels" wings don't block his view! I am sure the guys at Churchville Park will miss him; he loved hanging out there. I'll miss Pat; she had a silly way about her that would always make us laugh.

Rest in peace, Pat and Nick, never having any more pain and knowing you were loved by so many people; especially us! Thank you both for being such good friends, no one could replace you, we will love and miss you forever.

I knew Nick for years through birding and the Churchville Nature Center. When I volunteered to put popular birding trips on paper for Bucks County Birders to consult, I asked Nick to help me get one particularly involved trip together. He agreed and came back with an entire set of notes, handouts of specific places, directions, and tips. That was Nick: ask him for help and he would bend over backwards to do all he could. A nicer, sweeter, kinder man would be hard to find. He will be missed.

Knew Nick from Nature Center walks. He was a good companionable birder, and whose chocolate treats will I filch (I mean share) now? Very sorry to see these folks go.
