Patrick “Pat” Alan Bowers age 86 of Amarillo, was welcomed into heaven on October 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

The family will receive guests on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Church of Christ at The Colonies. Mr. Dick Marcear will officiate. Interment will follow with military honors by Volleys for Veterans at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pat was born on September 2, 1939, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Weston and Ysobel Bowers. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country for four years, continuing his commitment afterward in the Marine Reserves. While in the service, Pat served as a cryptologist, creating and breaking codes to secure or intercept information.   After his active service, Pat helped at his father's accounting firm—where fate had something special in store. One day, he laid eyes on the daughter of one of his father's clients. Time passed, but as chance would have it, he saw that young lady again at the NCO Club and asked her to dance. That dance turned into a lifetime of love. Pat and Paula were married on June 28, 1963, in Amarillo, Texas, and they’ve been dancing through life together ever since.

Pat went on to work for Levi Strauss, where he eventually retired—though not for long. He soon returned to the workforce, driving for Wal-Mart before retiring for the final time in 2003.

More than anything, Pat was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and faithful follower of Christ. He and his family were founding members of the Church of Christ at The Colonies and are still members presently. Pat loved to make people laugh—it was what he could do best. For example, Pat would creatively (and loudly) improvise the lyrics of hymns during church services. He had a unique gift for making each of his grandchildren feel like they were his favorite—because to him, they truly were. He deeply cherished his daughters and loved them immensely. But they always knew there were two great loves in Pat’s life that came before everything else: Paula and the Lord. And not a day went by that Paula didn’t hear from him how grateful he was to have her. In Pat’s eyes, with Paula by his side, he had everything he ever needed.

The world shined a little brighter with Pat in it. His laughter, his faith, and his boundless love touched so many lives—and the legacy of that love will forever remain.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Mike Bowers; and a son-in-law, Allen Dudding.

Pat is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Paula; his five daughters, Teri Skelton of Amarillo, Clay Christopher and her husband Michael Carmichael of Pottsboro, Catherine Bowers of California, Kiki Reynosa and her husband Jerry of Amarillo; and Sunny Dudding Strange and her husband David Strange of Pottsboro; his sister Sharon “Cissy” Bowers of Amarillo; and Pat was abundantly blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give thanks to the amazing staff at Ussery Roan, 600 hall for their dedication and loyalty in the care of Pat.
