While at Berkshire, he served on two North Central Evaluation Committees helping evaluate the West Geauga and Garrettsville Garfield School systems. Patrick was also a consultant to Scholastic Math Magazine, the global education, publishing and Media Empire. He was invited to participate and speak at its Editorial Advisory Board meeting in the lower Manhattan SoHo district world headquarters in 2007.

Patrick participated in football, basketball, and baseball while at Newbury High School, serving as co-captain in basketball and baseball his senior year. He also played basketball for New Coal Mining Company in Kingwood, WV and men's softball for Manfredi Motor Transit and Chagrin Valley Painting.
Patrick was a big follower of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, and like many fans, went through many ups and downs over the years in victory and defeat.
In addition to teaching and coaching, Patrick worked several part time jobs over the years including groundwork at the Ramsay Estate, picking strawberries at Blister Hill Farm on Pekin Road, custodian at the Energy Exploration Oil and Gas Company on Kinsman Road, and making pallets at Jackson Lumber on Music Street, all in Newbury. He was on the grounds crew at TRW Golf Course (now Fowle rs Mill) in Munson, a driver for the Geauga County Public Library, a bartender at the Golden Dawn Restaurant in Youngstown, and employed at the Payless Dry Cleaners in Chardon.

Pat and his brothers would come over and play sports in the yard with my brothers George, Les, and Bruce. They just had to come across Prot´s parking lot because we lived on the corner of Auburn Road and 87. Of course we also went to Newberry school so some of his siblings were in classes with my siblings, but Pat was so kind and I met him on Facebook a couple years ago. So it was nice to reconnect with him and share a few memories. I know he will rest in peace.
