Patrick Michael Despanie, Sr.
(Pat-O)
November 15, 1946 - May 25, 2023
Patrick Michael Despanie, Sr. was born to Rose Frederick Despanie and Percy Joseph Despanie, Sr. on November 15, 1946, in
Lafayette, Louisiana. He was the second of five brothers and had only one sister.
Patrick attended St. Paul Elementary School and then went on to attend Paul Breaux High School. At the very young age of 17, Patrick chose to follow in his father's footsteps and became a bricklayer. He proved to be a perfectionist in his masonry trade and specialized in building fireplaces just as his father. Patrick loved every moment of his work and continued bricklaying for more than 40 years until his retirement.
He was a very kind-hearted and soft-spoken person who loved listening to music. "The Red One", as he was affectionately known to his closest relatives and friends, was very witty, loved to tell jokes while being the humorous person he was. Patrick claimed to know everything and always wanted to be right. He loved sports and was a very true and devoted New Orleans' Saints fan. One of Patrick's most favorite thing to do was to sit on his front porch visiting with his neighbors and any relatives or friends that would come by. He will truly be missed.
Patrick leaves to cherish his memories his three sons: Patrick Michael Despanie, Jr., Raymond Despanie Shelvin, and Pat-O Joseph Despanie, all of
