On Monday, March 3rd, 2025 Patrick David Dolan (Dave), age 83, of Oakmont, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Dave is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 61 years, Rita Ann Dolan. Their love story began when they met at the age of 18. After he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, they married in June of 1963 and resided in the South Hills.
Dave's compassion for people and his loving nature led to a long and successful career as a pharmacist. Early in his career, he owned his own store in Brentwood PA – Dolan's Pharmacy. Several years later, the store was sold, and David went to work for Thrift Drug. In 1974 the family relocated to Chambersburg, PA. Even though this new job would keep their family there for just 4 short years, they forged lifelong friendships with 3 families – the Corapi's, the Golden's, and the Lecuona's – who all became family. Dave brought the family home to Monroeville where he successfully managed Thrift Drug, Eckerd and Rite Aid Pharmacies in Monroeville and Penn Hills.
David loved Pittsburgh sports, golf, Stroh's beer, vegetable gardening, barbequing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He had a laugh that was infectious and an amazing sense of humor.
He was a man of strong faith, love for family, and unwavering character. These virtues were immediately identified by all who had the blessing to meet and spend time with him. In his later years, he was blessed with 5 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, who all loved him so very much, as well as 3 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter arriving in May. They will miss him more than words can say.
David is survived by his loving wife, Rita Ann; sons Patrick (Tammy), Anthony and Daniel (Yui); granddaughters Jenna (Ben), Julia (AJ), Kaleigh, Angelina (Leo) and Maria; grandsons Lester (Julianna), and Jesus (Juliette); great grandsons Bo, Noah, and Marshall and many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, March, 11 2025 from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM at English Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Parish – St. Irenaeus Church, 387 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A private interment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family and friends can make a donation in memory of P. David Dolan to UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation / PICU at 4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
