Patrick Dougherty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals & Cremation Service on May 15, 2024.
Patrick James Dougherty, 86 of Old Bridge, passed away on May 14, 2024.
Pat was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He proudly served in the United States Army before returning to New York to marry the love of his life, Patricia.
Pat spent his entire forty year Wall Street career with Merrill Lynch, beginning as a clerk in Manhattan. He was quickly promoted to Operations Manager in the Dayton Ohio branch before returning to New York City where he advanced in several management roles. Pat had a knack for understanding and improving processes.
Pat and Pat settled in Old Bridge in 1968 where they raised their three children. While 'Pat-She' was the outgoing, warm and funny partner, 'Pat-He' remained the steadfast supporter: he was the one who found you when your car broke down in the middle of the night; who was on the dock to welcome a son home from the North Tower on September 11th; who sat next to his daughter for twenty weeks of chemotherapy treatment. He was equally devoted to his six grandchildren as he was his children, attending plays, football and baseball games, and never missing a family celebratory gathering.
Pat enjoyed symphony music, the New York Times, fishing, and a well done hamburger. He was a ferocious reader, loved reading American History most. He knew something about everything.
Patrick was predeceased by his loving wife of almost fifty years, Patricia, as well as his parents, Thomas and Thelma Dougherty and sister, Phyllis. He will be missed every day by his surviving children, Pam (Randy), Jimmy (Sharon) and Keith (Lisa) as well as his grandchildren, Connor, Shane, Patrick, Madison, Megan and Ryan.
Services will be private.
