Patrick Erickson Obituary

Patrick M. Erickson, 74, of The Dalles, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2025, following a tragic event while doing what he loved driving a semi-truck hauling grain for the annual wheat harvest in Sherman County.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beverly; children Renee' (Gino) and Kenneth; grandchildren Kye and Tyler; and siblings Lloyd, Ruth, Alfred (Patricia), and Robert.
After 30 years of service as an I.T. executive, Patrick retired from Daimler Trucks N.A. His dedication to his work along with his passion for driving anything-with-an-engine, made it a natural choice for him to fulfill a dream of becoming a commercial truck driver - turning what had once been a career behind a desk, into his favorite pastime behind a steering wheel.
He was a classic car enthusiast who enjoyed getting together with good friends, repairing, restoring, and showing their prized treasures at car shows and other car-related events.
Patrick was a generous and active member of his community, supporting and volunteering for numerous local non-profits. As a former U.S. Marine, he remained a lifelong supporter of veterans' and military causes, including riding his Harley with the Patriot Guard to proudly honor those who served.
Patrick's final gift was as an organ donor and in keeping with his wishes, no formal service will be held. Friends and loved ones are encouraged to honor his memory in ways that reflect the impact he had.
Patrick will be remembered for his strength, kindness, mechanical know-how and care for others; his legacy lives on through all who knew and loved him.

I never got a chance to thank you for your service Patrick.
I too am a part of the group that you´ll usually find on the SW corner as you turn down towards the willows at PIR.
I´m retired from the parts plant at Freightliner so did not work directly with Pat. However we all got to know him as we met up at cruise ins, a really great guy.
If you ever attend a Wednesday evening cruise at PIR stop by and share a story about Pat. We´d love to hear more about what a great guy he was and what he meant to you.
All my sympathy and prayers go out to his friends and family.

Pat really enjoyed making the drive in on 84 on Wednesdays to join the Corner Gang at Beaches/PIR.
He surprised me this spring by being concerned how my cancer treatment was going. He called me several times to check up. He cared.
He was always ready to give me help when something came up with my `55 Belair.
We all miss this great fellow.
I´m grateful I got to know you!

Pat was always a larger than life figure for the past 50 years of my life. When Alfred and I were young Pat was the "cool cat" that we looked up to. Pat was responsible for me starting my career at Freightliner in 1987. I rented one of his houses that had a shop. We spent a lot of time in the shop when he was building the 32 pickup that we used to see in Wasco when we were kids. I was offered an early retirement package from Freightliner and was planning on calling Pat to discuss and get his opinion. I will miss our phone calls and most of all never forget my hero, mentor and friend. Until we meet again my friend! My thoughts and prayers go out to Bev, Lloyd, Ruth, Alfred and Bobby. Love you all!
